On Saturday 5th April 2025 our three students from 5. A8 class, Zuzana Sajdlová, Magdaléna Trejtnarová and Tatiana Vošvrdová, flew to Sevilla and then travelled together with their host families to Cádiz in the South of Spain. Here is what they experienced during the first week of their stay there.
Introduction by Romana Vančáková
Magdaléna Trejtnarová:
My exchange adventure in Cádiz, Spain, has officially begun, and the first week has already been full of unforgettable moments! We arrived on Saturday, full of excitement and curiosity about what the next six weeks would bring.
On Sunday, we had our first group activity – a visit to a rope park. It was a great way to bond with others, overcome some fears, and enjoy the beautiful Spanish outdoors.
Monday was our first regular school day. It felt a bit strange at first to be in a different school, in a new country, but everyone was very welcoming. The lessons were interesting, and we started getting used to the Spanish school routine.
On Tuesday, we had a combination of learning and exploring. We spent the morning in class and then used the afternoon to discover the beautiful city of Cádiz. Walking through its historic streets, seeing the sea, and learning about the city’s past made us appreciate how special this place is.
Friday was another highlight – we participated in a series of fun competitions at school. It was a great way to end the week. The atmosphere was full of laughter and teamwork, and we got to connect with local students in a playful and relaxed way.
Overall, the first week flew by, and I’m already looking forward to what’s coming next!
Tatiana Vošvrdová:
The moment I saw them waiting for us at the airport, I forgot how it felt to be in the air after 10 years. I was finally meeting the amazing family of Irene. I can´t describe how wonderful it felt when arriving to the beautiful city of Cádiz. Once there, we were taken on a walk in the streets.
During the weekend, we all went to Kiko´s house to have lunch after three hours spent in a rope park, went to the beach, had the most delicious ice cream I´ve ever tasted and tried Spanish seafood for the first time. Everything was even better than I´ve ever imagined.
Monday was the day we explored the school and took part in some classes. I was slowly accommodating to the Spanish routine. Tuesday was a great day mostly spent in the self-study room. Wednesday was similar to Monday - a whirlwind of new people and experiences, as we participated in 4 different classes. On Friday, we were asked to be the judges of a competition that Kiko organised for the younger students.
After each day of school followed various activities. From going to the historical part of the city with everyone or only with my host family, being at a birthday party, seeing a football match or just spending time with Irene´s friends, to practicing English at the academy - anywhere Kiko, Irene, Sara and Vicky took us, I was stunned and happy to learn whatever I could about their daily life.
The first week was really memorable and I´m glad I´m participating in this Erasmus+ project. I hope the following days are as exciting as this week was.
Zuzana Sajdlová:
I couldn’t believe that that day would finally come but then, one Saturday morning, I found myself sitting on the plane heading to Sevilla, Spain. It was taking off at 6 am and me and my mobility friends – Táňa and Majda – had to get up around 3 am, so it was not a surprise that we slept almost the whole flight. On the board, there was also teacher of Spanish who accompanied us and the family of Táňa which are having a holiday in Cádiz. Our plane landed at half past nine and then we just quickly picked up our luggage and went to meet our Spanish friends and host families for the next six weeks. After the warm welcome we got on cars, and we headed to Cádiz to our new homes.
The entire week was nothing else than great. On Saturday our whole group went for a lunch, and we tried some seafood like shrimp, squid, shark and others. On Sunday we visited a rope park close to Cádiz and then Kiko invited us to his house with a pretty garden, where we had lunch, and then we went for a walk to a beach nearby. On Monday our school life officially started but we didn’t mind. In school we have met a lot of nice people, and we have participated in interesting subjects such as Art, where we created collages, English with interesting activities, PE, which is here not taken as seriously as in our school, Music, Maths etc. On Friday we also took part in a competition as judges in karaoke part of the competition prepared by Kiko for younger children. Besides school, we also visited the centre of the town and some museums there, we tried churros and Frutas con leche, which is a juice with milk, and I also met grandparents and other relatives of Sara, who are all very kind.
I really enjoy my stay here and I am grateful that I can be here for 5 weeks more.
